This week the glass splashbacks were put in, concluding the work on the kitchen. Except for some ceiling items... but we needn't worry about them, just need to source a nice ceiling grille for the extract fan and get the painter back to patch a few starter holes. Everything in the kitchen seems to be working just fine, very happy to say.
One thing leads to another, as we all know. So while we waited for the new windows to be made, the asbestos sheeting was removed, flooring put in, washing line moved and then it was time for Easter. And a break.
The work is happening in the once-upon-a-time verandah area which has been enclosed and glazed in a previous renovation. We have had 18 years of using the space as is and it is now time to alter it. Widen the far part, build a wall in the middle, raise the floor to match the rest of the house, insulate the western wall well, new double glazing, sunshading, possibly move the washing machine. Then paint and new floor finishes and we're back in business. And I might be able to get a well-lit studio out of it. Yippee!
I have always been obsessed with creation and colour. These days I play with glass and fabric as much of the time as I can. The rest is taken up with a little paid architectural work, family and playing with our two cats.
